Dear Comrades,

I am compiling a list of all historical Muslims associated with the socialist movement to address the reactionary narrative against Muslims.

I would like your help, it can be any country, but with an emphasis on Central Asia* and Africa, otherwise they will likely dismiss them as Westernised.

Currently have a few from Azerbaijan linked with the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in the empire.

* I use it in a very general term to mean, the ME, Pakistan, India, as well as those regions.

I'm not sure compiling a list of all historical Muslims associated with the socialist movement will address the reactionary narrative against Muslims.

What does making a list of socialist muslims do? and what is the exact problem you are trying to address?

The arguments against Muslims are quite specific, doctrinal issues with Islam, associations with primitivism and so on. If we can show that Muslims have a rich socialist history, we can combat this.

The problem which needs to be addressed is the belief that The Muslim World cannot progress because of ideology, or the racist belief that they are too stupid (quite common in the UK), a list of progressives (in their own words) will combat ignorance.

There was, and still are, a ton of socialists in predominately Muslim countries. Some have even came to power, or were very close. Until the 80s, secular nationalist or socialist political parties were dominate in most Muslim countries. The Islamist were marginal. Besides, if they're rightist bigots, will telling them that socialist ideologies they likely hate anyway were popular in Muslim countries sway them away from Islamophobia?

I have nothing against Muslims as a race, I do not believe in Muslims "not accepting freedom", however I do not have the best content with muslims on a religious basis any socialist government would be called blasphemous. I personally think that religion needs to be burned and banned.

Meh, you're doing it wrong, comrade. The double strategy is to support Western-based Muslims as a minority while at the same time opposing Islamic religious influence in the Muslim world itself.

Are you even looking for observant Muslims specifically, or can it be just atheist socialists from the region? The far left is a very secular place, by and large.

The educated folks don't need any convincing. The Middle East was the most advanced part of the globe for over 10 millennia, up until the rise of capitalism... Or at the very least the High Middle Ages, when European feudalism reached its peak, the Great Schism birthed the Catholic Church, power started shifting westward from Byzantium, and the crusades began.
