Fair Food Action Alert!/¡Alerta de Acción de Comida Justa!

~¡Español Abajo!~

Join Tampa Bay Fair Food for a #BoycottWendys picket near USF's Tampa campus!

WHERE: Wendy's @ 11720 North 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617
WHEN: Saturday, November 12th @ 1:00pm

Tens of thousands of consumers are committed to boycotting Wendy’s until the fast food giant joins the Fair Food Program, a worker-led, consumer-driven partnership between farmworkers, farmers and 14 corporate retailers, including McDonald’s, Taco Bell and WalMart, that is rooting out abuse and sexual harassment in fields from Florida to North Carolina to Maryland.

Rather than support an industry setting new standards for human rights, Wendy's shifted its tomato purchases to Mexico, where workers continue to confront wage theft, sexual harassment, child labor, and even slavery without recourse. Wendy’s has also published an empty Code of Conduct for its suppliers that lacks the two most indispensable elements of the Fair Food Program: worker participation and verifiable enforcement mechanisms for standards.

As the Wendy's Boycott swells with growing support, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) and their allies are going "Behind the Braids", and are taking the truth behind Wendy's façade of social responsibility around the state and around the country!

On November 12th, join Tampa Bay Fair Food, students, people of faith, labor allies, and consumers of conscience for a spirited protest in support of the CIW's fall mobilization and tour. To get in touch, email us at [email protected] or post on the Facebook event (http://click.actionnetwork.org/mpss/c/5QA/ni0YAA/t.21h/38npzViLSTSjo8geMV6qHw/h3/HE2UYZIDTZxfLuJ8qHDFiKcv9QeqMGLDJ3IrF8dj2B01XDRcoV kDDGuba8E2fCxsG2DCzQzGOKMYCaT0fQXjoDFMtkC-2Bea9wQqa9-2FCqbbwW5OljWhjYxpjQG09homPEn0Mz9SZngdmJwWfqc-2FJQr7ARJuAtUUSFfN2ahGeu-2Fg8DLHLUc6U1hN7Ms-2BWfZYI4KHyZb3diLPrDWJPhB3JcWp6PQHxYRmzk7PZmKKRKGi 3l1ek1BUxwJ6o78ieSLPw6n0B08otrbbhS-2BQZTC-2B-2BjgSKkoCOxKoTcc8g6W-2F3t6sLeyOxVIcg85r-2FKHb5gX-2FhCW6PCKTFdMyTfmjZ1ORuLEjAEtnPT4PQsVHe26SJPXzAI6Q WSQGX4jD9xX6OYVG4OKOY7amXGakR3AChI9KC-2F-2BrI22vAvyDrSXf-2B-2BmbzzzlKA-3D).
