Well here's something interesting I heard today on the television...
According to some cuban (who now lives in America <_< ) Rock and Roll and the beatles were considered to be "music of the enemy". Can somebody tell me I this is true????? According to the same man the first time the beatles were shown on tv was in 1992!!!! thats almost 20years after they broke up.

I dont know if this man is a belivable source but it would be very f*cked up if it were true cuz I am a big fan of the Fab 4. :)

They are the enemy of the eardrum and therefore of all mankind that can hear them. They must be destroyed.

Money

The best things in life are free
But you can tell me 'bout the birds and bees.
Now gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.
Money don't get everything it's true.
What it don't get I can't use.
So gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
A little money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.
Yeh gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
A little money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want THAT'S WHAT I WANT
So gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.
Your lovin' give me a thrill
But your lovin' don't pay my bill.
Now gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.
Money don't get everything it's true.
What it don't get I can't use.
So gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
A little money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.
Yeh gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
A little money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want THAT'S WHAT I WANT
So gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.

Is all I have to say on the subject.

can't buy me love

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright
I'll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright
'Cause I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

I'll give you all I got to give if you say you love me too
I may not have a lot to give but what I got I'll give to you
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love, everybody tells me so
Can't buy me love, no no no, no

Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

everyone has a mercenary value...

if someone were waving 1 million bucks in ur face, would u not take it?

here's a better example

say $500 is lying on the street. Nobody's around. No cars, buses, ppl, etc. Just u, the street, and the money. Would u take it?

I know i would! Damn capitalism has routed into me to think more is better...

Enigma, they didn't even write that song!
And rock 'n roll was not allowed in the communist bloc throughout most of the 20th century.
That was pretty silly in my mind, but these days that's all over.
Castro has even had a statue of John Lennon built in Havana.

Read the lyrics to I Me Mine, Imagine, Working Class Hero, Piggies, Power to the People. All of these were written by the Beatles or by former Beatles.

RedZeppelin and Knowledge have the point. in the society we live in we can't survive without money and we shouldn't act as we can. it would be nice if it wouldn't be that way, but guess what - it is. <_<
they really deserved the money they earned but they haven't been playing just because of the money. if they had they wouldn't possiblly done all that great songs with meaningful lyrics cause it wouldn't be in their interest. the beatles really loved what they did.

that's the way i see it

well personally i like the beatles... but i can see why it can be seen as the music of the enemy... i mean it promoted a lot of good things because it was just good music but now-a-days i don't see how it can be seen as that

I love the Beatles because of their music and not of their political believes. They were capitalists because they couldn't be anything else since they were singers and they were selling millions of LP's all around the world.I'm not trying to say that this was okey. That's a thing I still dislike about them. But as I said you hear their music and not what they believed. However they often didn't like the english system and they used to express that through their songs.See "TAXMAN","Piggies"(George's songs).( or Revolution!)

"Revolution" has some pretty counter revolutionary lyrics, btw.

Well I know the beatles werent communists or leftists for that matter but I just think it was VERY stupid to call them the enemy and then 20 years later build a statue for them

Who cares???

After all you can't just expect all the artists you like to speak about the Zapatistas or against yankee imperialism.
Most artists don't have ideals anyway.

'Taxman' is actually one of the most reactionary songs I've ever heard.

It's pretty good, though.

well fellas, after a long period not posting anything, this topic is asking for my intervention
no, I don't think those four guys from Liverpool were or are the enemy
okay, they are pretty famous and made a lot of money and surely were glad to make all that money
however, you cannot call them "the enemy"
I'll give you some reasons:
- they were working class (although being working class doesn't necessarily mean that you're non-cappie)
-if you give me counter-revolutionary songs or cappies songs, like money, taxman, and others (I don't consider revolution as counter-revolutionary song), I give you can't buy me love, all you need is love, nowhere man, piggies, etc.
-John: if not a revolutionary, at least a leftist, and George, with his oriental influence, certainly cannot be called a "money-lover"
-the "so called" communist countries like the USSR and Cuba had so many mistakes that you can't take them as the best example for accusing people or stuff as "the enemy" (Trotsky was consider an enemy by the Stalinists. Was he a capitalist? I don't think so)
I think I made my point
see ya mates

Ok, I guess I'm a few decades late but the other day I heard a song by the beatles (rock 'n' roll music) and I loved it! Prior to that, the only beatles I'd heard was yellow submarine (that was my favorite song when I was a kid) and some other one's that were on my dads vintage beatles record. Then, the needle on the ghetto ass record player broke and I never heard them again.

I was listening to an oldies station the other day (I think it was thursday) because I felt like listening to something new and then they played that song. Afterwards they said it was the beatles and I was like "kick ass!". Later on they played another beatles song about California girls and I was "like wow, they actually do have some good music".

I can't believe I've just barely realised how good their music actually is :) What a nerd.

its Cuba, a country revolutionised and then turned back into what it was before, just that the leader looks different and has a different name,
it could be true as in countries that have failed becoming communist they become a kind of dictatorship and are kept segregated from the enemy(everyone else) and amazing music like the beatles would probably be seen as far to insperation that it could inspire outbreaks you know shit like that so maybe it could be true

California Gilrs is by the Beach Boys, FFM.

Just go on Google and look up a Beatles discograhy, then download some of the songs.
They're all good.

Or invest a few bucks on Rubber Soul or the White Album or Revolver.
Really good stuff.
All the tracks are great.
The Beatles are worth every penny.
