Fidel Castro: Blaming Stlalin for Everthing is Oversimplification

I was always interested to know what Castro thought about Stalin. Now I know.

Well, in one of his best biographies, he was documented early on as saying "Soviet imperialism is just as bad as Yankee imperialism" and chastising Raul for praising Stalin. I don't think Fidel had any personal affection for Stalin as a historical figure.

His answer in this interview is actually very fair and done with a historical and materialist perspective, rather than falling into some "great man" analysis. The violent rural collectivization is probably the hallmark of the worst of the "Socialist" countries in the 20th century.
