Dear Chris,

Thank you for adding your name to our new campaign calling on Jamaica to fight domestic slavery by ratifying Convention 189.[1] So far we already have over 30,000 signatures!

This week the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) opens in New York. The Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, has a perfect opportunity to ratify C189 in front of the eyes of the world focusing attention on domestic workers' rights. This gives us a very short timeframe to ensure Holness carries out his promises to ratify.[2]

Can you help encourage Mr. Holness by telling him why you took action on our campaign and why Jamaica should ratify C189?

Its really straightforward. All you have to do is go to the Prime Ministers official webpage (http://campaigns.walkfree.org/q/zW_G_Kd7flVpNK5UYr45HxfpTt8Fx_nGtDLsIq_Fm9PctSeGOx ZZ1VhFU) and enter your comment in the Your Message (http://campaigns.walkfree.org/q/rBBXB1Q4ueq_4Dud_7gtOAuH3kRXPawSkchN2atEPoaR6yDGsx szpqLXp) Box. Your message will go straight to his office.

This is what Eugenia, our Advocacy Officer at Walk Free said:

"I signed the Walk Free campaign calling on Mr. Holness to ratify C189 at the UNGA because I believe Jamaica has an opportunity to become a leader in fighting domestic slavery by signing up to a Convention that offers extra protections to the tens of thousands of domestic workers in Jamaica. Please ratify Convention 189.

We would love to hear from you about the comment you left for the Prime Minister. You can let us know by clicking the feedback button at the bottom of this email.

Together, we can help encourage Jamaica to take a real step forward in the fight against domestic slavery.

In gratitude,

Zoe, Joanna, Kate and the Walk Free team
