View Full Version : POLL TIME!!! Are Ckaihatsu's threads / graphics useful?

For the threads, you know what ones I'm talking about, the ones from his e-mail feed. The BA must think so because he chairs the "upcoming events" forum, and this and the ongoing struggles form are chalk full of it.

If you notice, these threads seldom generate any useful discussion. Often he is the only person in them. View count is also far lower than those made by other users. The sheer quantity of them presents a spam concern and in the past I think he said he'd slow it down or make just one feed thread. The graphics also take up a lot of space. That's why I'm making this poll and that's the purpose it serves.

Keep discussion civil or the admins will lock / trash this.

edit: da means they are useful and niet means they're not

I am usually confused by what the fuck is going on in his posts, I mean sure they look cool but I there's just so many words and letters in all sorts of crazy directions that I can't tell what the hell its supposed to be!

I'm sure a lot of effort goes into them.

Both.

Oh, that other shit. Couldn't he at least type something about his thoughts on whatever he copied/pasted?

The grafics are hard to read and overly complicated I find. The graphic gets in the way of the information. As for his news posts; I dont mind them.

I love ckaihatsu's posts even if he is just copy/pasting news stories we should all know about.

He seems like a true communist to me. I believe he makes good points and I generally find his comments and graphs useful.

The sheer quantity of them presents a spam concern

Most people these days aren't stuck with dial-up (slow) speeds.

They can't be considered 'spam' in terms of *content* because I make sure to include them only if they're pertinent to the topic of the thread.

and in the past I think he said he'd slow it down

I *have* 'slowed it down', actually -- also, my 'internal' policy is to put the images in spoil tags if they're just 'f.y.i.' relative to the discussion and thread topic, but I will include them visibly, *without* spoil tags, if they're directly addressing the content of someone's post and are on-topic.

or make just one feed thread.

It's at tinyurl.com/ckaihatsu-diagrams-revleft, or
www.revleft.com/vb/threads/111586-political-educational-diagrams.

The graphics also take up a lot of space.

The image files themselves are hosted externally, at postimage.org/ckaihatsu. If you mean 'vertical page space', people usually have scroll wheels -- it's not a biggie.

Thanks -- I have some catching-up to do since my almost-month-long absence (see my Visitors Page).

I find ckaihatsu's posts incredibly useful. Chris, I think your politics are nuanced and interesting, and your contributions valuable.

The graphics . . . I find aesthetically interesting. They rarely clarify anything for me, but the style - I like it. It's very "retro-futurism". It makes me think of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Thanks, GDU -- 'ppreciate the support from everyone.

The biggest 'discovery' I've made in the field of (revolutionary) politics is that of *scale* -- I don't think there should be a schism or such animosity between the 'authoritarian' socialist camp and the 'localist' anarchist camp, except over matters of scale regarding revolutionary strategy and a post-capitalist implementation.

I like to think that the graphical illustrations / diagrams I've made include this crucially important 'dimension'.

Regarding 'style', it's been pretty straightforward from my perspective on things -- I think the content of each one tends to 'suggest' an aesthetic approach, but for the most part it's just been practice for me without any particularly determined 'art direction'.

Thinking about it, I kinda want a coffee table book of your diagrams as a birthday gift for my friend Ian.
If that is ever published, let me know.
I'm serious.

Hmmmmmp! Well, I'm doubly flattered, then.

I swear, I really don't see them (all of them) as being coffee-table-book *quality*. But -- if you're that serious you may want to talk with a printer and just grab the full-resolution versions of whatever images you want from where they're hosted, at postimage.org/ckaihatsu.

I can't stop you. (grin)
