In Lebanon the 1% (sectarian parties March 8 & 14) have occupied public property and turned it into expensive beach resorts, hospitals , restaurants.(March 8 & 14 are similar to the republican-democrat fake conflict in order to divide the people)
They have used sectarianism to blind us , the 1% are the warlords of The Lebanese Civil War , they have dealt with Israel in 1982 to invade Lebanon in order to weaken the Palestinian-left, and form Hezbollah in 1985. In 1991 a Taaif Agreement was signed which made Lebanon
1)Divided into 18 different sects with four major sects sunni, shia, maronite, and druze.
2)Hezbollah to control the military and the police.
3)The Future Movement(Al Hariri) own the banks and corporations.
4)The Head of The Parliament is Nabih Berri and he has been in office from 1992 till now.(Still in office)
In 1992 the 1% created a very evil Corporation named Solidere which scammed every citizen by stealing his/her small business, inflating the prices of basic goods greatly, occupying public beaches.
In 2011 the left has emerged in response to the Arab spring the named it themselves The Civil Movement. It has gathered the most 20000 people and was slowly gaining momentum, but failed because of lack of unification and coordination.
In 2013 the parliament member have extended their own term illegally, the civil movement has responded with protests and small sit-ins. Also in 2014 , but the civil movement was repressed by police brutality.
In 17 July 2015 , Lebanon's main Landfill was closed due to having over 5 times it's capacity. The garbage crisis began, trash was everywhere, powercuts which were usually 3 hours daily have increased to 18 hours , with a very hot & humid summer heat 40 C or 100 F the stench got extremely unbearable. The civil movement got reactivated and a certain portion of it's activists formed a campaign called "You Stink" they had a few reformist goals :
1)Resignation of the Environment Minister.
2) Solve the trash crisis with an environmentally friendly plan by recycling.
In 19 August 2015 YouStink activists staged a sit-in attempting to enter the Government HQ by cutting the barricaded wires , the police responded by firing water cannons and beating the protesters several injuries and arrests happened, in response the YouStink activist called for a demonstration near the the Government HQ on 22 August.
In the 22 August 2015 was deemed a revolutionary day with more than 30 thousand people. The demonstrators chanted "Al Shaab Yourid Isqat Al Nizam" slogan that was used in the Arab spring which translated "The People want to topple the regime" which is quite radical after a few moments the Police tried to kill the demonstrators by using enahnced water cannons, rubber bullets , tear gas, pepper spray, taser guns, and real bullets, and police patrol cars driving recklessly to overrun the citizens, the civil movement has gained momentum after severe police brutality.
In 23 August another demonstration was organized with more than 50 thousand people , about 200 youth from poor neighborhoods threw rocks, bottles filled with sand, and molotov cocktails were thrown at the police. The state deployed Counter-terrorism Police and Lebanese Army Units with tanks. Many activists and demonstrators accused these youths of being infiltrators and Nabih Berri's thugs.
On 25 August a campaign called "We Want Accountability" emerged they have Marxist-Leninist views more radical than "YouStink" they called for a demonstration on that day , which had another episode of police brutality.
On 29 August over 120 thousand people marched from the ministry of interior in response to the police brutality to Martyr's Square. "YouStink" promised the governement a surprise in 3 days the activists stormed and occupied the ministry of environment in order for the Minister to resign many all he activists were severely beaten by cops and were treated like terrorists.
The civil movement lost momentum but regained it in March 12 2016 however it quickly lost momentum by lack of coordination and disagreements.
I have been participated heavily in the 2015 civil movement, and have joined the "YouStink" campaigned unaware of their liberalism and attend their meeting to try to get them more into anarchism. I greatly disagree with their principles and views. The civil movement has achieved by breaking the barrier of fear, and formed an activity called "Abou Rakhousa" or Mr Cheapo where people sell some products cheaper than the market in order to combat corporations, inflation and monopolies.
The movement has lost momentum , but we are working together to regain the momentum and change the system.
