So... a few days ago I submitted a novel I wrote into a contest being held on this site called "Inkitt" that I heard about spammed on Twitter. I already shared the novel here with all you RevLefters after I published it on a blog a while ago but I'm still looking to enhance readership or find a real publisher so I thought I might as well try to engage some more people this way. Please vote, read it, share it with your pals, whatevs.
The novel is a kind of satire of activism in the post-9/11 United States but also Tom Clancy or Turner Diaries/Red Dawn-esque right wing political action thriller genre, among other things.
Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax (http://www.inkitt.com/stories/67407)
A small and unruly group of millennials sharing an interest in raves, radical literature, and social justice form the Book Club: an informal faction operating within a left-wing activist group called Socialist Alliance, whose leader suspects their "club" of being little more than a cover for recreational drug use and organizing underground dance parties. In short, a serious liability. When a stampede at an illegal rave party results in dozens of deaths, including one of the cops who came to bust it, those concerns seem vindicated. It doesn’t take long for the Homeland Intelligence Agency to connect the dots and seize the incident as a pretext to quash social movements. After the Book Club loses one of their own to the H.I.A.’s domestic extraordinary rendition program, it’s clear peaceful protest ain't gonna cut it. But it isn’t until Marxists are officially designated terrorists and the radical ravers are forced to team up with Rroma clans and a Santa Muerte-worshipping drug cartel that they realize what it really means to go down the path of revolutionary armed struggle: one that leads to strange sojourns in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa ...and outer space.
