While the Syrian government forged a ceasefire in the north of Syria so that it could concentrate its efforts against the Islamic State to the east, recently securing a hard fought victory by driving IS troops from Palmyra ( http://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2016-03-27/syrian-troops-drive-is-out-of-historic-palmyra ), the FSA, having lost much of its support from the US government in favor of the newly-minted SDF built around the Kurdish-dominated YPG, has fully moved into the camp of the jihadists.

During the past few months, they've been trying to exterminate the Kurds in their little jihad backed by the likes of the Saudis, Erdogan, and the CIA (ironically in opposition to the Pentagon/Russia-sponsored SDF)

But now the real show has arrived - a comprehensive, decisive, unequivocal violation of the terms of the ceasefire laid enacted on Feb. 27th.

Reddit has been following this spring offensive, tagging its key groups and actors.
I guess it really is the case that one armed extremist is not functionally different from any other.

the CIA [...] in opposition to the Pentagon/Russia-sponsored SDF

To me this is far more than just an incidental, interesting footnote -- it's downright *Orwellian* that the U.S. empire backs *both sides* in the conflict:

The three superstates wage perpetual war for the remaining unconquered lands of the world, forming and breaking alliances as is convenient.
