I plan to visit the Carribean in a year or so. The idea is to go for 6months to a year. Could anyone reccomend an island with - friendly locals who will accept me into their community (a lot to ask for), liberal, non-brutal police, sun, sea, sand and legalised pot!!

I don't know about all that you mentioned (legal ganga & non-brutal police and what not) but if I were to go to the Caribbean, I'd LOVE to, first of all, go to Cuba, and secondly, The Dominican Republic (!!) only because it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen. Jamaica & Haiti are also lovely.

CUBA! CUBA! CUBA! CUBA!

I swear if I was any closer to that island I'd make a little boat and sail there. Damn it's too bad I don't live in Flordida. Even if I was anywhere in the Carribean I'd just have to swim there or get there by any means possible.

Call it an obsession.

I'd go to the Bahamas, although it's not really the Carribean.

I don't believe the Castro Regime looks on drugs too highly and from what I understand Cubans smoke Cuban Cigars and that's about it.

Fidel is not that liberal on that issue, I want to look for a place like that too, but the closest you'll find in this hemisphere is a country where its illegal, but the police don't give a fuck. Sort of like British Columbia is here in Canada. The BEST pot, everyone's stoned and the police arrest NOONE for it... almost.
