For a good explanation of the Khmer Rouge I'd recommend small sections of Jonathan Neale's book on the Vietnam War -- he provides a lucid explanation for the class resentment that Pol Pot worked with.

In some cases, a strict interpretation of the Dialectic can be faulty. Take for example, the Enlightenment of the Greeks, this can be viewed as the Thesis. The Middle Ages took that away, this can be viewed as the Antithesis. The result was the Renaissance, which can arguably be seen as less advanced in philosophy as the Greeks.
