He wasn't activley fascist but he supported and poured praise on the fascist dictator Franco, When the poet Federico Garcia Lorca - his old aquaintance from Madrid and it is suspected sometimes lover - was senselessly gunned down by fascist thugs, Dali upon hearing of it cheered the event...

I know this is about art but it's sometimes useful to know about the artists character.. This is the guy who spat upon the portrait of his mother when she passed away, who when most of Spains artists and literati were backing the Republican cause spoke highly of the murderer Franco and even the Nazi's, maybe only to shock people or be different but wrong nonetheless...

dali was warped man, that's all there is to it. I was painting a clock that he did (for grade 10 art class, lol)so I was looking through a lot of other things he had drawn/painted, and he's not quite right up stairs, if you know what I mean......lol :lol:

I remember him as "the guy who paints sausage boobs" lol :lol:
