Recently, I have been reading Karl Polanyi's The Great Transformation and have come across references to the enclosure movement and the imposition of market rules and norms on precapitalist societies, both of which are part of Marx's expositions on the primitive accumulation of capital.

I am curious about the internal forms of primitive accumulation, specifically the enclosure movement and the abolition of feudal laws, customs, etc. I have read much on the instances of primitive accumulation in the colonies (African/American slave trade, Peruvian silver mines, encomiendas, etc.), but haven't gained a solid understanding of primitive accumulation within European society. Was wondering for some basic insight on the shift towards a market economy in Europe, or at least some Marxist/anarchist literature on the topic.

I'd recommend The Caliban and the Witch, as well as Witchcraft and the Gay Counterculture

Both provide a good insight imo
