CAN TV Cracks Down on Staff Amidst Looming Union Contract Negotiations

WHAT: CAN-TV workers who are members of NABET-CWA Local 41 protest harsh treatment they allege is retaliation for their union election
WHO: CAN TV workers, NABET-CWA Local 41, community members, clergy
WHEN: Monday, December 21st, 9am
WHERE: CAN-TV’s new building, 1309 S. Wood
WHY:
CAN TV workers won their union election by a 17 to 2 vote on August 14, 2015. Their union, NABET-CWA Local 41 delayed contract negotiations while CAN moved to a new location. While the new building gives an appearance of professionalism and excellence from the outside, workers allege their treatment is anything professional or excellent. Workers say management has changed treatment since the vote, including new harsh disciplinary practices. This includes suspending a worker 2 weeks, unpaid for arriving early to work.
