fast food wages rise in US?

My wife works in the local school system and many of her students work after school in the fast food franchises, McDonald's, etc. She says some of her students have talked to her, or she hears them talking, about getting a raise recently.

Does anyone know anything about this? I haven't seen any news.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's a wage hike used as a talking point and pacification tactic against the 15/hr (or more) stuff.

Or giving people the 15/hr and using that to further pacify other areas of struggle

I'm sure fast-food companies will find a way to diminish the new amounts of money they need to spend on their workers. They always seem to do that.

Maybe you could ask her to ask them how substantive a raise it was. Are they 1 or 2% raises?
