An excellent first hand account by socialist George Orwell. As he states himself it is not propaganda, some excelltent lessons and observations. Fast becoming the greatest book I have ever read and I read a lot.

Trust me you will enjoy it, Orwell is essential reading for any left minded individual.
And Animal Farm of course is the most subversive criticism of Stalinist Russia I have ever come across.

It's far from Orwells best in my humble opinion but worthy reading nonetheless, for a non-pompous or self important first hand account of the Spanish conflict check George Wheeler's - to make the people smile again..
It's fairly ragged but deeply vivid and personal, written by a surviving international brigader who witnessed the Fascists sadism in a concentration camp near the river Ebro...

I read Homage to Catalonia recently, I liked it alot. I now have an interest in the Spanish Civil War(something i never learned about in school) Im going to get The Spanish Anarchists by Murray Bookchin and Anarchists in the Spanish Revolution by Jose Peirats, whenever i can afford and find them. Any of you read those books? If so, would you reccomend them?

yeah, as has been said, its good for anecdotal stuff, but if one hopes it can be a guide of some sort, its not the case
A very good read none the less, really enjoyed it, and theres funny and sad parts in it, and of course the writing style is superb
