I swear these are happening more and more often. I'm not be desensitized towards these shootings but they are really casting a black shadow over all of us. We are having several wars around the world and now this?

But this aggression has to come from somewhere. This isn't something to lose faith in humanity in general, instead this is the fault of these damned capitalists and the millions they've hypnotized with all these fucking stupid and petty issues!

This isn't the first time fundamentalists have shot up an abortion or birth control clinic. It's pretty ironic that "Pro-lifers" call themselves pro-life when they don't care about living people's lives.

There is something scary of the power of the media and the Big Lie. As crazy as this claim seems to be to any sane person, when I saw that "Modern Educayshun" video in the OI Learning section, where ziggyfish is trolling right now, I realized that even the most hopelessly deep kinds of stupidity can be sold to the masses with the power of the modern mass media. Sometimes it makes me think, can any grassroots communist organization even compete with this level of brainwashing? Yeah, I know, this is the part where I get berated for insinuating the workers are idiots who can't think for themselves, but... I mean, aren't most workers taking political stances explicitly against the class interests? Quite a bleak thing to think about.

I think part of the problem is that the internet has destabilized traditional mainstream media. I say "problem," but this is actually a good thing, since it should - in theory - impede the ruling class's ability to control the popular narrative. Unfortunately, that same corporate ruling class has done a better job of taking advantage of this opening than we have. As I wrote in another thread about Trump's popularity:


Part of Trump's success has been because of his ability to bypass traditional media and appeal to followers who are both skeptical of mainstream media, and at the same time lacking in critical thinking skills and ignorant of alternative sources of information. His followers are the type of people who think that the 5 O'clock news and their local paper are full of lies, yet uncritically accept what they read in Youtube comment sections and Facebook memes.

The upside is that the same audience is up for grabs, if we could just figure out a way to capture their attention - after all, they are at least sharp enough to understand that traditional corporate media is full of shit.
