View Full Version : What I'm Doing for Thanksgiving

Comrades, as all of you know, European settlers committed genocide against Native Americans. That is how the United States gained the land it now controls. Thanksgiving celebrates the grade school mythology of peaceful colonists settling in New England for various "freedoms". Everyone is content to ignore the slaughter of the Native Americans that these settlers carried out.
This Thanksgiving, I want to remind everyone of the brutal oppression of Native Americans that everyone sweeps under the rug. I will set up several signs around my city that say things like "Don't give thanks for genocide." I will also print out copies of the essay "Thanksgiving: A National Day of Mourning for Indians" and distribute them at a busy intersection (I can't link to it because I don't have 25 posts yet). Certainly many people will reject this message, but hopefully some people will listen, and think more critically about what they're celebrating when they celebrate Thanksgiving.
Does anyone have any other ideas for what I should do? If you want to, I can send you a copy of the essay that I'm going to print out, since I believe I can send links through private messages.

Thank you, Native Americans are still treated like 2nd class citizens in this country. Just shows the hypocrisy of the supposed land of the free.
specifically the conditions in reservations like the Navajo reservation:

I did not know about this - thank you for the information. That's one more reason to do this.

Honestly this is a pretty liberal project imo. What will it actually accomplish?

Friend, there are a hell of a lot more examples of this type of vile treatment to these people In the US and Canada. Hell the 2-3 million native Americans in the United States are the most oppressed minority in this country. Do you ever hear Liberals talk about this? No! Because in their narrow minds, all that matters is that everybody be PC and they never give two shits about these people!
The amount of bullshit in this country is mind boggling! It Infuriates me so damn much!
These people have the worst suicide rates in the US, the highest Alcohol consumption rate, the lowest unemployment rates! They are experiencing hell on earth in the RICHEST nation in earth! They are made fun of, spitted on, and kicked around! And you know whats the worst thing about it? They can't fight back in an organized manner!
These people are still treated like shit to this day!

Education, and maybe agitation. As it is, I am one of only a handful of communists in my city. It's fine to talk about communism online and the struggles workers face, but nothing will come of mere talk. We have to get active if we want the things we believe in to happen. I'll also be talking about the necessity for revolution to anyone who listens.

OP, if you aren't already, I would suggest including explicit tracts on the importance, meaning and method of decolonization, preferably written by Indigenous people to avoid the risk of alienating missteps, maybe something by someone from your tendency about how to account for decolonization if it exists. To me that's what makes this package start to be worthy of being called revolutionary. Good luck and let us know how it goes if you feel like

The thing is, I don't think that this is really a viable technique to get to communism. I think ruptures in our lives experiences, in time and in our understanding of social reality are our only chances and with those are riots and magic available. I'm not saying riots are the only access points to these tears but that they are a single point of access that ought to be widened, turned into a receptical for human bodies. But the educate, agitate, organize, cauterizes that anus, castrates it, leaving only an ugly filthy scar where it once was.

I've read this statement 5 times, and I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say. Could you rephrase it?

That post was more for myself than anyone else to organize my thoughts, I doubt I could rephrase it very well however I can recommend you read the baedan journals (1&2 available at the anarchist library) to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

the subterfuge of our own subjective unconsciousness is undermined continually by the totality of the spectacle within the reproduction of every day life, allowing us to wage war against the negation of our own negation, until we are at daggers drawn with the existent.
