There's a lot of judgemental people.

So, what do you get judged by others for?

Or

What do you judge others for?

I find as I get older I become less and less judgmental. I've been through a lot and have gotten to know a lot of people over the years and I can empathize with them, because I've seen first hand what leads them to act the way they do, or believe the things they believe, even if I think it's wrong or stupid.

Really, the only time I get judgmental is when people are pricks who intentionally hurt others, especially those who can't fight back. In my experience, there's no excuse for this. I also have a hard time giving people a pass for being bigots - in fact, I probably get more judgmental about this every day, to the point where I don't even bother to talk to certain people because of it.

When I was young I judged everybody - for being mindless consumers, for being "normal", for not being leftists, for liking mainstream things, etc. I don't really give a fuck about any of this anymore.

I get judged by different people for different things. My friends from the factory think I'm geeky and hopelessly impractical, while my acquaintances from academia think I'm some kind of street thug. They're both kind of right, haha.

I try not to be judgmental in general, but I am only human and am therefore prone to all sorts of mistakes.

By the way, I do not think of criticizing bigotry as necessarily judgmental. Judgmental, to me, is inappropriate moral judgments about someone's behavior.

Good point, and I certainly never shied away from criticizing bigots. I used to think I could do that without judging the bigot. I tried to put myself in their position and understand what life events led them to harbor such beliefs. It's something I just can't seem to do anymore.

Not keeping your word is one character trait I find particularly irritating.

Also hypocrisy, which I think bothers most people on some level, and speaking ill of others while pretending to be cool with them (when the person in question is actually around). The latter makes me suspicious of people because I figure that they're probably talking lots of shit behind my back whenever I'm not there, as that's all they ever seem to do in regards to everyone else in their life...
