View Full Version : Thinking about college

So, I'm starting college soon after a short break hopefully (I graduated early and started working to help support my girlfriend and I), and now I'm about ready to go to college. I'm considering going for a chemistry degree, but I wanna brush up on some of my old knowledge. The last science class I took was physics but I didn't apply myself or have a very good teacher so my grades don't reflect my abilities. In my chemistry and precalculus classes I got all A's. I just want to brush up on my old math and chemistry skills as well as anything else that will be relevant before I get into school. I don't have any access to a math textbook but I do have a copy of Linus Pauling's general chemistry and another college textbook for Chem (it's my girlfriend's). I'm just wondering if there are any recommendations?

Idk if this will actually pan out but I wanna give it a try. Anyone here into chemistry?

don't know anything about chemistry, but i'm in an astronomy class right now and from googling stuff i don't know about (plus lots of basic math shit cuz i haven't done a math class in ten years) i've noticed a ton of universities have all kinds of stuff online explaining basics, advanced ideas and often have quizzes you can give yourself to see if you get it.

You could look at the reading lists for the colleges you're interested in. I would imagine that a chemistry course has a specific module "maths for chemists" or something along those lines, and you might be able to find the suggested reading on the college website.

Also, if you ever need some help with a specific area of maths, I work as a maths tutor so feel free to send me a PM and I'll help as best I can :)
