'Podemos have now suffered great damage due to us. All, however, are linked: one of the reasons for which the official Europe appeared so determined to crush us, was the rise of Podemos. The Social Democrats in Germany and elsewhere were afraid our success. If we had succeeded to restart the Greek economy, they would end up like PASOK in Greece, ie 4%. Therefore, they had to crush us, which they did,'

Hi, isn't the political party PODEMOS a social-democratic reformist party? I think that one of the main reasons of why the social-democratic left has been rising to political government power a lot easier than the real left is that the middle class is still a large class in numbers in Europe and in the USA. And the middle class by their nature and behaviour patterns is a class that has hatred toward the poor, hates to mingle with the poor, it is elitist, classist, middle class people judge others by their physical image. And that's why they don't support the far-left parties, and the far left radical parties are parties and organizations full of indigent and very poor people. And in very arrogant societies like USA, France, UK etc. middle class workers do what ever they can like buying new cars, buying lots of gadgets (iphones, ipads, smart phones etc) just to fit in, to be part of the crowds.
There are lots of people like that in the Berny Sanders movement and in the Green Party. Green Party members are super stuck up people. They are hardcore elitists. Like Chris hedges, Naomi Cambell, Amy Goodman, Juan Gonzales, Juan Cole, Paul Krugman, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, David Pakman, all those progressive social-democrat celebrities are very elitists and anti-poor people
It is time for the far-left, to put away their far-left tendencies (anarchism, trotsky,marxism-leninism, maoism, etc) and get together into far-leftist fronts. But it is very hard, because for instance the maoist group The Kasama Project of Mike Elie is very sectarian. And the World Socialist Web Site wsws.org is also very sectarian
As long as the far-left is so divided, we will be ruled by right-wing political parties (Republicans, Rajoy of Spain) and by social-democrat parties (Socialist Party of France, Michelle Bachelet of Chile etc) and the far-leftist parties will never rise to power because the far-left it too divided and because the working class themselves are too elitists, too anti-communism, too anti-radical leftist ideology
So Varoufakis is claiming to be to the left of Tsipras -- ?
Why did it take *this* long for this to be made public, and as a matter of politics -- ? -- ! Perhaps enough time has now passed for the vacuum to be addressed, with vacant political terrain grabbed for a *new*, 'left-of-Tsipras' populism -- !

To be fair I don't think it is news that Varoufakis sees himself as left of Tsipras. I don't think it's actually news that this is the case. AFAIK, Tsipras was always seen as being on the centre-left of SYRIZA, as opposed to Varoufakis who utilised language suggesting he is a socialist. Of course if you caught Varoufakis' turn on BBC Question Time a few weeks ago you'll have heard him say that he supports a mixed economy, so despite his rhetoric, his charm, persuasiveness, his lucid writings on the economy and politics, and his integrity, I don't think he's quite as radical as some might make out.
