As an Albanian I am pretty much looked down upon of despised. I want to know of ANY communist/anarchist people in this site who hail from the balkans. and I'd be cool to discuss the struggle we are having in the reactionary post cold-war Eastern Europe!

Half of this site is run by a Yugoslav conspiracy (the other half has fallen to the perfidious Dutch).

Just off the top of my head, me, LinksRadikal, Roza Partizan, Walter, and a full three people whose usernames I can't remember right now are from former Yugoslavia (I'm from Croatia). I don't think we have anyone else from Albania though. There is a group about the idea of a socialist federation of the Balkans.

Yeah you guys kinda got the same thing that happened to russia. Ultra-conservative orthodox reactionary. All that shit about nationalism and resources is why I am in the socialist federation group.

Hey since we got that down do you guys have any suggestions to resolve the border conflicts in the balkans? I for one think that the federation idea is the best way. another good way to resolve it is to redistribute large populations to their respective provinces.

I don't think that's a good way to resolve anything, to be honest, in fact it's tantamount to ethnic cleansing. I mean, it "solves" the problem, but the people deported suffer for it. And how would it even work? Not only are many people in the area of mixed ancestry, many regions represent an interpenetration of the various people from the Balkans. I.e., is Vojvodina "Serb", or "Hungarian", or even "Bunjevac"?

The only solution is a socialist revolution because the apparatus of the bourgeois state privileges one dominant nation over others by its very nature. Under workers' rule, the Balkan peoples could form their own socialist federation with the borders decided by democratic principles.

Pretty sure Ismail is from the US.

I'm greek, living in Bulgaria right now, so I'm Balkano-balkan

About the boarder problem you mentioned, I totally disagree about moving the populations from one place to another. It's unethical, governments have done it in the past and pretty much they only created more problems both in the short and long run.

About the federation now, I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about. If it's something like a pan-Balkan (see something like Yugoslavia, but not exactly the same), I would totally be for it, but there is one huge problem about that.
Nationalism is just huge in all the balkan countries and we can't really work things out or cooperate when we have so many "important" differences to solve. If people manage to realize that the national problems are less important than the class ones, we might be able to unite.

Just like the English and French made the native Americans fight one-another so are the Russians and Americans. I want a federation similar to Yugoslavia; however Tito was a strongman. The people need to be the strongman in order for a federation like what I'm supporting to work.

This in-fighting can only be solved by erasing nationalism in the Balkans. No more Hungary, Serbia, Albania etc. Only one direct democratic socialist state must be made with many different districts. I want to base the Pop-exchange like the post WWII redistribution of Germans into germany. That m.eans Serbians back to Serbia, Hungarians back to Hungary, and Bosnian muslims back into bosnia.

Sounds very unrealistic but thats my ideal way of do

I recently watched that lengthy BBC documentary on the Yugoslav Wars. Although its true that Tito was a 'strongman', I have to admire the man for being able to keep that country together for so long. Not to mention the fact that, even as the war was beginning, many Yugoslavians still believed in his vision of multi-national harmony. That footage of those peace agitators getting gunned down by the Serb Nationalists is....harrowing, to say the least.

It sounds realistic. We had the same thing during the civil war here. The Tuđman regime resettled a lot of Serbs. The problem is we oppose it. Not only is it incoherent, it hurts workers and minorities. I mean, to be honest I'm shocked that this is even seriously considered, and that the example of German refugees is being offered as a positive one. Do you understand how that resettlement went? It went the same way all population exchange does, it was horrifying. And how would this "end nationalism"? It would shut everyone up in "their own" national state. Instead of ending nationalism you would bolster it to unprecedented levels. I, allegedly a Croat, would not be able to leave Croatia, move somewhere else (like Jajce where many of my family live), have someone from Bosnia or Serbia as a partner... does that sound like socialism to you?

Our perspective is a socialist federation of the Balkans, as part of the United Socialist States of Europe: a socialist revolution to sweep away the bourgeoisie of the region so that the new workers' states can associate together on the basis of mutual cooperation.
