View Full Version : Should Revleft have a political humor forum?

As much fun as it is to have serious discussions about the world and capitalism I think Revleft is sorely lacking a forum dedicated to political humor. Those that love silly one-liners or sarcastic comments (like myself) will finally have a place to post and laugh. Think of a far-left version of the Colbert Report or The Onion. I think we need this balance and it would make Revleft a lot more fun and welcoming to those of us bored of the status quo.

Feel free to recommend forum names.

Some of my suggestions:

The Memes of Production (MOP)
The Marxist Report
The Sixth International
Super Serious Socialists
Comedy of the Comrades

As you can tell by the completely unbiased poll we have a crucial decision to make.

Why not put them in the Chit-Chat forum? I believe moderators have repeatedly clarified that it is fine to post stuff that is political but not serious in the Chit Chat forum of the Non-Political section, and people have done so many times without issue.

I think this site is chronically lacking in serious discussion and trying add another non-serious forum would not help matters.

Also most political humour is shit.

I made this statement in another thread but there are tons of forums here that are barely active and probably redundant. Chit Chat is basically what the forum title is: chit chat. While humor is welcome there it's not the driving force so it's kind of stagnate. In fact I think most of the recent humorous threads are by me. Is it really that hard to make one for comedy?

Are we reading the same forum? I'd guess 90% of the posts here are very serious. Just one forum won't disrupt the others so I don't understand why you are so against it. And just because a lot of political humor is bad doesn't mean that it will be lackluster here too. If you don't want to read or post in it, don't.

Where?

At the very least could we make a subforum under Politics or Chit Chit for this? Or maybe rename this forum to something else? I want to make more fun threads but it feels weird and spam-like to do that here when other people aren't posting the same way.

I hear Xhar-Xhar is like 80 years old, and he doesn't get the hip humor that the kids have these days.

But for real, just post your funny stuff here. I guess I post silly stuff in the What's On Your Mind topic usually.

I posted something recently about a management group out here that is jacking up the rent, evicting people all over the place, some local activist groups organized protested, and in response the management company made a blog about how the management is the real working class, and the activists are bullying them. Oh, and if any demonstrators rented their houses, they were hypocrites, because that makes them both pro- and anti- landlord. I guess I didn't really make any jokes, because it's already an absurd joke, and made even better by the fact that it was intended as serious.
