View Full Version : RevLeft Deformed?

[Revleft] is essentially (in Trotskyist terminology) a deformed workers' state, controlled by a junta that tightly controls public discourse and uses shady means to eliminate all opposition while usually pretending there is nothing going on.
So, what do you think fellow workers? Is RevLeft Stalinized?

I know that my post claiming that the rule about "discussion of age of consent laws not allowed", supposedly because of "possible legal problems" was irrational because while there is relative freedom to discuss age of consent laws in many countries today (I say relative because of the many real issues concerning that), sometimes promoting communism or anarchism in any way is formally criminal e.g. in many U.S. states, was deleted quickly and without explanation or any trace left.
I also know that sometimes there are weird admin statements, like "do not discuss whether Stalinists should be restricted", or "closing this thread because no thread is allowed to reach X posts because a mighty leader said so".
And I also know stuff like certain outspoken individuals who have not only confessed to be non-revolutionists but in fact openly preach reactionary crap are not restricted, and seem to be liked by some of the admins. This goes on while for instance social-democrats are restricted.
I think the board administration is a joke in some way but it has managed to not disappoint me too much.
I don't know much about the previous RevLeft eras, but it doesn't seem like there's too much censorship atm. There is a lot of freedom of speech. Banned people are usually rightly so.

I think it's actually forum capitalism. After all, there are advertisements - according to AdBlockPlus, there are blockable objects, anyway.

RevLeft is a freemium MMORTS.
Then again this is revleft and people are into making up imaginary factions with imaginary flags to an imaginary RTS and pretend its politics.

Is rationalwiki the site that has like a section about me being a paedophile with a link to a video made by an EDL member that plays Jerusalem over a video montage suggesting my state film funding is the cause of a failing NHS? That video was awesome.
Anyway, I don't think the BA is organised enough for it to be Stalinised. It's more of a neglected, mini African nation that has depleted all its natural resources and is governed by an aged, indifferent military cabal.

It is quite underdeveloped.

In the good ol days (and by good ol days I mean the couple of years after the CC was closed), this place was a bonified police state. But yeh you guys have been slacking lately. There hasn't even been a completely random forum purge in several years now.

How do you know about the CC or what RevLeft was like a couple of years ago if you only joined in March 2015?

They were here from 2010 but got banned, before being allowed back with a new account.

Personally this is the worst I've seen this site, as far as general activity and the amount of users I find interesting/likable. IMO my favorite period of this site was around 2010/2011.
A lot of my favorite posters are gone or hardly post anymore.

rationalwiki.org/wiki/RevLeftLies, all lies! Who wrote that, the CIA?:glare: Revleft is a dictatorship of the proletariat and closest to full communism online. None of these supposed atrocities are real(Cliff Paul's been rehabilitated so it's all good). All counterrevolutionary bandits purged were shown mercy compared to what a bourgeois "democracy" like the US would've done. It all based on unreliable hearsay, shit Robert Conquest and Richard Pipes made up, and possibly sockpuppets paid for by the NSA and NED trying to stir up a Color RevolutionCoup and and put Revleft on the Capitalist Road, contrary to what some revisionist wreckers may say with their "deformed workers' site" opportunist line.

It has to be said, considering some of the posters who have fallen before the scythe, the banning policy seems to be quite inconsistent.
Forums do come and go, but looks like the old arguments are just well, the only arguments.

I've said this a few times before but I think this place is way too serious. While I like reading and contributing to serious threads it feels really off balance to not also have more lighthearted ones. I still think we should have a forum dedicated to political humor. It seems kind of silly not to have one when there are a bunch of other redundant forums that barely get any new posts. If the admin team is still skeptical then let's have a community poll to see how many people agree with this idea. Would a mod like to start one or should I?

Yeah, but it's not really dedicated to humor and it's currently in the Non-Political category which doesn't fit what I'm looking for.
I think I'm going to create a thread about it to see how people feel.
