View Full Version : Why did my Miss Tennessee thread get trashed?

I made a thread about going to the Miss Tennessee pageant. Some wimpy moderator put it in the trash can forum because of "sexism" and "objectification." Geez, does it get any more pansy? Holy crap, already. Nobody is happy with the state of world, but get in the real world already. Some of us actually date women, and appreciate femininity and--gasp!--sexiness. If you can't stand a serious discussion, then I don't know what to tell you.

It doesn't sound like you're looking for a serious discussion and your sexual preferences aren't really a matter of discourse on this site. If you want to meet attractive people you can just go on Tindr and not make a huge deal about if.

Go find a locally owned strip club to practice your weird petty-bourgeois "appreciation", and fuck off.
Sincerely,

I asked a serious question. It's like whether or not a to boycott a store on a holiday. Do you go into a store on Christmas? How about Labor Day? What if you just watch a sporting event on a major holiday? You're not attending, but your at home spectatorship assures that ushers and others at the ballpark have to work.
WTF is wrong with a beauty pageant anyway? They are a little silly, but people act like it's some big threat.

I didn't really see it to be that questionable objectification-wise (at least, not trash-worthy) except for maybe that last bit about salivating over asses.

"Petty bourgeois." LOL. Let me appreciate the finer points of your pontificating.

Thank you. The whole pageant thing is pretty vanilla. Anybody who calls this objectification supports Santorum. Hell nobody even watches the shit any more. I never watch it on TV. Going was just like a night out.

Yeah, you go on and on about how this is all about legs and asses, and your one concern is that that Donald Trump owns it. Are you for real?

The funny thing is that other people ask me the same question. I thought I might get some perspective here. Nobody else seems to care.
I don't even know the extent of Trump's involvement. It's also an NBC event. I think it's being held in an Austin Peay auditorium (but not sure). It's not an either/or.
If I had to pay, then there is no way I would go. It's no charge, so I don't financially support him. Like you'd pass it up? You have something against asses, or do you live in a cave?

Without commenting on the rest: Such events involved in the way they are being here (and I say that last part because a beauty pageant isn't necessarily experienced by everyone the way OP explains it) aren't about actual sexuality, it's a travesty of it at most. It's about gender culture, gender roles. The fact that 'asses sexually exciting someone' is being involved here - as if going to such an event was some sort of sexual fulfilment - it's not in the slightest - speaks volumes.
Such cheap "sexuality" has nothing to do with real sexuality. It has to do with gender culture and gender roles.

Uh, I explained that it would be a weekend trip that would involve places like Nashville and the historic Ryman. I even emphasized that my friend is not a hound dog or braggart. You could actually meet a couple of nice women and maybe even go out on the town. Some of them are even--gasp!--a little sexy. If you're threatened by that and a little humor, then that sounds like a travesty that speaks volumes.

If you are threatened by the slightest real analysis - then that speaks volumes. The opening post talked about 'sexism' and 'objectification'. Aspects related to this are being talked about here. But anyway -- you're proving to be a lost case, no point debating with you. I will not reply unless you demonstrate a change in your next post.

Go ahead and reply or not. It's your forum. Not that I really care, but I don't even see where you are correct in citing your own rules. I did not call anyone a name. If saying something is a little unmanly is a problem, then that does not sound like serious discussion.

No threat here. I started the discussion and am continuing it. Looks like you won't even discuss something unless someone conforms to your thinking. I'm not interested in a discussion where everybody is a clone or does groupthink.

This is exactly what you don't get. You could call someone an asshole, a piece of shit, or whatever, and we wouldn't give a fuck. On the other hand, we would care about the way you engage with gender identities and so on.

You seriously were under the impression that a thread about whether or not you should attend a beauty pageant, and event which sole purpose is to sexually objectify women for men, was a good idea on a revolutionary and feminist forum?
I made a thread about going to the Miss Tennessee pageant. Some wimpy moderator put it in the trash can forum because of "sexism" and "objectification." Geez, does it get any more pansy? Holy crap, already. Nobody is happy with the state of world, but get in the real world already. Some of us actually date women, and appreciate femininity and--gasp!--sexiness. Some of us indeed date women. What is more some of us ARE women. And we seriously mind when women are objectified.
Some of us are also men, gender queer or whatever...who date other men...and who are or might be seriously offended by hetero normative, gender normative and essentially homophobic terms such as wimp or pansy. For which you received an infraction.
This however does not seem to substantiate your claim here about the legitimacy and seriousness of the subject....which even doesn't begin to address the fact of whether or not any serious discussion over whether or not you should go salivate over girls asses in some event is appropriate in any setting let alone this forum.
And why the hell would you think it appropriate for the politics sub forum?
There is a huge gap between femininity and sexiness on one side and beauty pageants and objectifying women for sexual gratification on the other.
And serious? Salivating smilies?
That thread was trashed. Be happy you only got an infraction in this one.

Lol. You just quit while you are ahead. Ok?
This thread is closed.
Start another and you will receive a new infraction.

Sorry i know im not supposed to post in already closed threads but I'm gonna make it a perma-ban just for this stupidity, the fact that you presume based on my username (which is after the nickname of male anarchist Alexander Berkman btw) that I'm female and thus should be dismissed is exactly the problems here...
