Hello, I'm kind of shy so I apologize.

I am interested in politics, where I stand is quite clear, I am against imperialism. I don't like countries that exist because of imperialism (such as the U.S.).

I have a lot of sympathy for the Vietnamese in the Vietnam war, I am an admirer of Ho Chi Minh (although I know not so much about him yet). I also am very sympathetic to the native American peoples.

I am American myself but I will probably leave this country one day (or not). The fact is, I think the land rightfully belongs to the native peoples, not my kind.

I come from an Irish background and I have studied Irish history extensively. Especially the Irish experience in America as immigrants. It's very sad to know about. They faced a lot of discrimination, and no matter how hard they worked, they still had to deal with the stereotype of the 'lazy stupid drunk Irishman'.

The Irish were villainized and many were not even lucky enough to make it here (many died coming here). If they got here, they faced a lot of discrimination just for being born Irish.

Of course, the Irish would have never had to go through all this if not for British imperialism. The British drained Ireland of her resources and millions of Irish starved to death as a result of it. There were those who immigrated to other parts of the world, and only so many were lucky enough to get to their destinations alive.

Once they arrived, they were met with hostility from the established nationals of those countries.

Anyways, this has influenced my own politics greatly. Studying the history of the Irish people has changed the way I see the world. I have always felt great sympathy for those disadvantaged. Especially for those effected negatively by imperialism.

As a homosexual, that only re-inforces my empathy for those disadvantaged souls. I'm sure you're all familiar with the history of homosexual people and everything they have suffered.

I feel I belong to two groups that have had a lot of bad luck throughout history. Irish and Queers. I'm proud of my Irish ethnicity and my homosexuality, though.

I joined this forum because I want to discuss politics, with like minded people. There are many different people under the banner of 'Revolutionary Left' and I consider myself one of them.

There's nothing more I despise than white supremacists, and homophobes.
