Where to learn about actuality of DPRK?

Are there any good sources that provide news/literature related to the DPRK from a socialist-critical point of view rather than dismissing hatred as it seems with most U.S. media? More about the reality of human rights, democracy, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend Brian Myers' The Cleanest Race for an in depth look at the importance of ideology and the propaganda machine used in North Korea. It approaches the subject neither from the Bushian "axis of evil" spewed by the American government nor the Marxist-Leninist/Tankie "We heart the DPRK" line, but from a more Chomskyan analysis.

My great uncle was an ambassador to both North and South Korea and has told me a lot about North Korea that really changed my perception on how I view North Korea. I can go into detail about some of the stories he has had with NK if you guys want. As for books, Bruce Cummings is highly recommended
