First off, sorry if this sounds ignornant, it isn't my intention. I was wondering, how common is it for a human who is born as a woman to change their gender to a man (i.e a trans male)? I know the converse, someone biologically born as a man to change their gender to a woman, is quite common.
And it would be nice to see any literature on the matter.

Being transgender varies quite a bit from person to person and not every experience will be anywhere near the same. Some people know immediately the gender they were assigned at birth was wrong and request they explore other avenues. For others it's not so obvious and can take years, even decades before they come to the conclusion their gender isn't what they were assigned at birth. I remember reading a statistic that said either about or less that one percent of the population is transgender.
As per literature I haven't any, but I can share my experiences so feel free to ask.
Which totally reminds me I forgot the PM A Revolutionary Tool about a very similar subject. So if he comes around I'll ask their questions too

From the sources I've heard, less than .5% of the population identifies as transgender.

As far as I understand, men who want to be like or turn into women is much more common than its opposite. In some societies/cultures there has been a recognized 'third gender' of 'feminine men'. I remember recently reading, an interviewer asked a member of one of these 'third gender's, "do you want medical sex change?", and the individual replied: "You do not understand. I am not a man trying to be a woman."

Phenomenon was particular common & accepted in Golden Age Greece, Rome, Chinese Dynasties etc. Although such "feminine men" had stereotypes attached, but were often treated equally as bad as the rest of the populace.
Unfortunately there weren't "radical gender theorists" back then so we don't have the philosophical insight on the implications of a supposed "third gender" in that time period.

There are just as many trans men as trans women. It's just that the media sensationalizes and objectifies trans women more so. The break down is really about 50/50.

Is there any evidence of this? It may very well be true that trans men are invisibilized ultimately resulting in accounting less in statistics, or even that less people identify as trans men due to sexism or whatever, and this may be criticized, but it is no justification for making claims which may be backed only by personal experience.
