Economics is probably my weakest point in my understanding of Marxist theory (which, of course, is what Marxist theory is virtually all based around).

What are some good texts for understanding the Marxist explanation of value, exploitation, and other fundamentals, in a simple manner?

Well, I don't have any 'simple explanation' to offer, but if you ask for writings by Marx, 'A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy' and 'Value, Price and Profit' are good to begin with in my opinion.
