Well, I picked up my copy of Media Control the other day and just noticed that it said 2nd edition on the cover. I went to the back to see the other books that "Open Media" has released and I found Media Control (1st ed. my guess)

Is it important for me to go and read Media Control 1st ed. before I start with the 2nd?

Usually with book, the first eidiotn/second edition etc., refers to the printing of the book.
So the book is written, and the first edition comes out, then new facts come to light and extra information is added, or perhaps a new preface, or extra chapters.

It's like an update.

I don't know anything about the book in question, but usually the second edition would be the one to go for.

Have a look for yourself at the first edition copy - my guess is that the content will be very similar, but I could be totally wrong.

That might explain why this has been the only copy ive seen (eitehr that or they have the same cover).

But that makes sense, thanks.
