Hey. I used to be active here as fluxone13, then as lovelyshadeofred. I started when I was 13, and left revleft because of the bickering and flaming. I'm back now to see what's up.
Anyway, I'm thinking of starting a worker's center in my home state in New England, because I saw a map showing that we don't have one. I was wondering if people could direct me to some resources and give me some advice. I've looked at the Vermont Worker's Center and done some work with them; they've done some good campaigns, and I want to base our center on their format.
Any thoughts?

Um, in Portland, the "workers' center" is a day labor hiring site - instead of the home depot parking lot, bourgies can go to a reputable place to hire them, and workers won't get ripped off by some sketchball.
You could also try contacting your local IWW branch for some ideas of what local needs are, and also some connections 'n' comrades willing to help. I couldn't really tell you what your home state in New England needs the most, but they'd probably have ideas.

Vermont Worker's Center's a good place to look (I mentioned them in the other thread). Might also be worthwhile to look into groups like Philly Socialists and SeaSol since I think the things they do are things Worker's Centers are set up for, except without the permanent structure of a Worker's Center.

Sorry to be this guy, but it's Workers' Centre (unless this centre is for one specific worker).

It's fine, I was kind of confused about that. I've also seen "workers center" without the apostrophe.
Any advice on starting one?

Workers' centre = centre of workers (' makes it possessive)
workers centre = centre for workers
I think.
(grammar is important).

"Centre" would be British English, so that's out.
I'm wondering how to set up the infrastructure, get volunteers and interns, set up a board, get funding, that kind of thing. I only found one link online that was helpful, so I'm hoping people here have some insights.
