So what in your opinion should we replace it with?

Inevitably, a black power flag would result in the outcry of conservatives about how "black power is the same as white power" and how they don't understand, if the Confederate flag represents slavery, then why doesn't this flag? "Africans sold Africans into slavery to Europeans" "ps get over it".

well, thats kind of the point, they didnt really loose the war.
read a pretty good analysis that yes, from a classic Napoleonic "the war is what happened on the battlefield when two armies clash" the union won, but if you look at it more from how we now look at the Iraq war its a far different picture. One could then say that the insurgent phase of the confederate war effort wasnt properly engaged until the civil rights era and is still not completely defeated.

Yes, I had read the same article, it's right. The Confederates lost the war but won Reconstruction until Jim Crow was defeated. These points need to be brought up everytime a defender of the Confederate flag shows their ugly face, the effort to subordinate black labor to the white man and keep people seperate from eachother is still a very real issue that many people in the south support. It's mind boggling how many white people think that jim crow was fine and dandy until that fucking black guy MLK came and ruined the peace.
