Hi there, my name is Keavy. I just found this site a few hours ago, not sure how it has taken me this long... I've been involved with leftist and anarchist philosophy for about eight-ten years now. I consider myself a libertarian socialist, social ecologist and an anarcha-transfeminist. I am from northern New York, right along the Canadian boarder, essentially in the Adirondack Park. I am currently a college student, with a focus on Gender and Womans Studies and Political Science, along with a minor discipline in sociology, psychology, economics and modern history. I am a farmer, growing just enough to sustain my family and my wallet. I have been involved with many political organizations, and a few protests over the years.
I'm sure some people here may have heard of the idea of anarcha-transfeminism (or tranarchy as some call it), but doubtfully many. So, I figure, along with an introduction as to who I am, it would be appropriate to also introduce the anarchist school of thought I have help found.
The short description (which can be found on the Facebook page dedicated to it) is as such:
"This is a break from the queer anarchist and the anarcha-feminists. This is in name only a form of queer anarchism, as such that it removes the "queer" aspect; as it is used as an umbrella term for all people who would fit into the LGBT community. Anarcha-transfeminism is not an exclusionary form of anarchism, as someone who is transgender can be of any sexual orientation. The main focus here is to address issues within the anarchist community such as trans* exclusionary radical feminists (TERFs), and the differences between identity and orientation, in which transgender people are simply lobbed in with the queer community; as a transgender person can be heterosexual and therefore would not necessarily identify as queer. The breaking away from anarcha-feminism is done much for the same reasons anarcha-feminism was created: to break away from the misogynistic and sexist tendencies within traditional forms of anarchism. Anarcha-transfeminism is looking to break away from possible transmisogynistic and transphobic tendencies within the anarchist community. While not shutting out queer anarchism and anarcha-feminism, but as an alternative ally."
That is just the general description of the whole thing. It is much larger than simply focusing on gender equality and transfeminism. It is also an anti-capitalist, libertarian municipalist, social ecologist, libertarian socialist (with some mutualist leanings), militant, revolutionary idea, with a main focus on the struggles of transgender people, as victims of patriarchy and the bourgeois.
I have quite a few writings on my personal philosophy, and my take on the anarcha-transfeminist movement.
