Thought it would be an interesting thread, I can't remember last nights so I'll talk about the one before.
I was lying in bed and my legs where combined into one leg and they where cut open and fish where inside getting ground up and were coming out into shredded paper. WTF? That's an average dream for me, must be something to do with my psychosis. I was also in a shop and one of my former nurse said "The cider is over there Jake". I was looking through a bunch of non-existent alcohol brands and then I went round the shop shouting "FUCK THIS FUCKING SHOP, YOU MURDER INNOCENT PENGUINS, I'LL START MY OWN SHOP AND PENGUINS WILL BE SAFE!!!!!!!"
"Oh, fuck off then" said a shop assistant.
I was then at a cliff with a few comrades in the former USSR and we drank some nice lager. (I don't really like lager). We then went to Obama's holiday-home and we jumped into the pool that was a stair-case and we where trying to get up to drown him and he was at the top laughing as we kept falling down. :(

Oh, yeah. I remember something from last night: I went to Portugal with my dad and we went into an ancient site and a giant bell was swinging around and in broke the door down and I went through and said "Oh, it's a wedding place, a funeral place and an opera house" (WTF?????). I eventually went inside and sat down and my ex was there behind me talking and I stood up and said "Fuck you, you fucking c*nt-b*tch, I will fucking kill you, you sp*stic, burn in hell you utter horrid, vile cow!!!!!"
I was asked to leave and I made a scene of it.
Then I went to the hotel which in one scene was a bed without a wall. I went into a bathroom and was confronted by Nazi officers.
I was taken back to a part of Britain that was controlled by Nazism.
I was taken to the camp and shot in the head (but I was still alive) and then shot in my hands, arms and legs and had 2 fingers cut off".
I then got up and killed them.
I escaped the camp with a Jewish girl that I fancied but we where caught by a Nazi and he would not believe me that I was not Jewish (I was wearing a hammer and sickle pin which was a bit daft of me). The girl was terrified because she was found out to be Jewish and I couldn't stand up for her and I had to pretend I hated Jews to save my skin. (I felt awful about it and was trying not to cry).
We eventually ran to the hill and got married.

Can't actually remember tonight's dream. On the other hand, I did, at one point of my life, try to focus on getting lucid dreams. Part of that was leading a dream journal, and while I only ever got one or two actual lucid dreams, I did remember all my dreams very clearly, even in the cases where I didn't write them down, for a long time - I just trained myself to recall them, after all. Since I've stopped (it gave me major sleeping difficulties) I've been a lot less good at remembering them. Usually, they tend to be erotic and kinda blurry, and I've morphed a few of my dreams into full-fledged daytime fantasies. I don't remember much of what I or anyone else says during the dreams, though.

I also went to the battle-field after being pestered by mountain-Nazis and was forced to give a speech to Hitler then 6 comrades knocked on the door and where confronted by 100 Nazis and I "shot at them" but really I "accidentally" shot some of the Nazis in the back of the head. But the comrades died :(.
I then attacked a bunch of castles and killed a bunch of unfunny comedians and picked up some commie-pins.

A lot of things happened in my dreams last night, I was quite shaken up.

I had a pretty intense dream recently in which I made out with a childhood friend of mine. No context to it at all either, just making out and feeling each other up. I haven't seen her in a long time, I believe the last time was when she'd recently graduated from college (she went to Harvard, really excelled academically) and I hadn't even thought of her in literally years, but she randomly popped up in my dream. I don't get vivid sexual dreams like that too often but I was bummed when I woke up from that one.

Weird. This must mean I've been out in the wilderness too long.

I dreamed a few nights ago that there was this massive herd of gorillas outside my house. I was scared so I ran out the other side of my house and put my phone to my ear to call 911. Then I realized I couldn't call 911. Because I was in Russia. They probably have a different number to call for gorilla situations.

Ooh that reminds me! I need to look up the Russian equivalent of 911 in case this ever happens in real life.

EDIT: apparently it's 112 for anyone who might need that

I've had exactly four lucid dreams. Usually they focus on flying and getting sex and other stuff I can't do in real life, but they always ended before anything good happened or I didn't have enough control over them to do what I wanted. Those few moments of flying were nice though.

I had a vivid dream about a civil war, and there was this charismatic general type bloke that made a powerful speech, and I woke up, and I logged the speech, or one powerful sentence, on my phone on a post it, because I thought it was so awesome.

We are not standing in dd face kf vicktkry but in its place

Meaning: victory is assured or something. We are not standing in front of it, we are already there. I thought it was so deep and powerful in my dream daze.

And then a more boring dream anecdote I guess

And then another dream about civil war, a few weeks ago. A group went into a building that was behind enemy lines, later 'turned' into city hall of Amsterdam, (space and time being fluid in dreams), and there was a lone sniper that asked me to snipe with him, and I did, I picked up an AUG and followed his lead. He shot, and I casually shot quickly after that, both a kid playing on a tricycle and stuff... And I said, I get it, you were bored so you shot the kids. this was probably informed by the Syrian Civil War, having read about how there were reports of sniping wounds in civilians were categorical, so one period it was mainly in the head, another mainly in the leg or whatever, signifying that snipers made a game out of sniping civilians because of boredom.

Anyway, then some lady came in that was a collaborator with the Nazi occupiers (all of a sudden it was the 1940s apparently) and she greeted us not realising were were partisans and I pushed her out of the window, and then we shot all nazi soldiers with automatic rifle fire. Then there were jubilant masses celebrating the liberation, including red guards, and that guy that shot the kid, and I was like "yeah we did it mate!"

Considering that supposedly everyone in your dream is you according to pscyho analysis, not sure what was going on.

They probably have a different number to call for gorilla situations.

So to provide more material for understanding my actions a few years down the line when the murders start, I usually have several vivid dreams in a night. I also sometimes have "serial" dreams, where one dream references another.

Years ago, when... how should I call her? Judas? Brutus? Cassius? Let's call her Gwen. Gwen and I were the best of friends, or so I thought. I had very vivid serial dreams in that period, all concerning a single (nonexistent) city. I could still draw a general plan of the city, and tell you where everything was. I even know some of the names of the quarters (people from Split, they tell me, are obsessed with quarters, well how could we know who to hate otherwise?). Most of the dreams had little plot, I simply walked through the city or went to the store or - as I did a lot in that period - simply wasted my time outside with Gwen.

Then, as I am told everyone except me expected, things happened and Gwen and I, we, ah, don't talk anymore. I stopped dreaming about the city. It returned later, in a few dreams, as a ruin. Everything was in twilight, because apparently my brain likes cliches, the buildings were either piles of rubble or had rusted, had broken windows etc. There were corpses everywhere. These dreams were more impressions than anything else - I remember dream-me thinking that it was awfully cold and that something very wrong had happened in the city.

The last time I dreamed of the city, it must have been years later, everything that was bare rubble then was overgrown with grasses and moss. I saw her on a plateau. She had the same old black coat she always wore when she pretended to be a friend, but her face was a blur. The truth is I don't remember what she looked like anymore. I tried to say something, but couldn't find the words. I think that was the point that I let her go, or so I like to reassure myself.

Then later I sent her some anthrax in envelope hahahaha I'm doing that thing where I sarcastically "confess" to crimes so no one will suspect me when I actually do it.

(I may have written about parts of this before.)

In the last few months, I have again started to dream about some nameless city, but it's not the same city as before and it's more obviously based on Zagreb, or rather the parts of Zagreb I moved around in when I had a social life. I once confused the hell out of my sister when I dreamed that I went to a restaurant in that city and woke up, confused and tired, then phoned her to ask if she would like to go to that (nonexistent) restaurant.

The worst nightmare I had was that I was dead, a (pretty torn up) corpse floating in the water somewhere, and somehow I was still aware but could do nothing but watch my own corpse from above. And the dream seemed to last for hours of just watching my corpse move with the waves.

I love dreams, although I haven't had many good ones for awhile.

I also have serial dreams, and they take place in this weird compound that is a cross between every town and city I've lived in, my old high school and my old factory job. People from all eras of my life live there and drop in and out of my room uninvited, which is in a huge apartment complex with a swimming pool and a forest that leads to a beach outside. Usually nothing ever happens in these dreams.

In my last really vivid dream, however, I was sitting in my room with some guy I used to work with about 15 years ago. A grasshopper was crawling around the floor and the guy in my room handed me a can of raid and said "spray it and kill it." So I sprayed it and it grew a couple of inches, and then three snake heads emerged from the side of its body and started hissing and spraying venom at me, and it started charging at me. I was like "what the fuck!!?" and the guy in my room was all "yeah, that happens sometimes." That one was pretty unsettling.

My dreams are nothing compared to those of my girlfriend, though. She sleepwalks and sometimes runs around the house in her sleep, screaming "THE WINDOWS ARE ALL BOARDED UP! SHIT! AAAAARGH!" Talk about unsettling.

Right before I went to sleep last night I saw a huge house centipede in my room and was on revleft. So in my dream there was a bunch of revlefters combatting it but we were all the size of the house centipede (my rooms pretty small so we wouldn't have fit otherwise). Naturally I was the only one who succeeded and personally saved user Luis Henrique from certain death.

I actually had a dream relevant to a forum I go on last night. eregime. For anyone who doesn't know, it's a website that hosts forum games. In one of those games, I play as Zef milioti. Ismail is the game master. (I send my turns to him)

That's pretty much all the background you need to know.

So on to the dream.

Zef was in prison for plotting to overthrow the government (he's in prison in the game for an illegal weapon cache). He prayed to god (he's a catholic) and Ismail answered "Yes, my child?" and I responded "please god, i must be released from prison". Ismail said "It shall be done." (what he says when you send in your actions usually)

2 days later I was released for "unspecified reasons" (I skipped time in the dream)

I woke up as I walked out of the jail and was like "what the fuck?"

I'm a fisherman, and when I'm really deep in the shit whenever I close my eyes and try to sleep I get pretty intense closed-eye visuals of pulling up a gillnet over the rail of a boat...only it never reaches to lead line. I just pull, and pull, and pull, and pull, and I never get to my destination. It's really fucked up, sleep of all things is my time to get away from that shit!

Dreams about oversleeping are common for me as well. Specifically, missing the ship I work on - something I have managed to avoid actually doing for 15 years now. I usually only have nightmares, horrible nightmares, but lately I've had the occasional 'good' dream as well.

This has led to the realisation, that I hate those even more. Waking up and realising it wasn't real is such a disappointment that I'll rather feel the relief waking up from a nightmare.

This, I always prefer a good nightmare to a "perfect" dream.

I had two dreams this morning which is odd, since I usually go months and not remember a single dream. The first one I was in a war and then I got captured and they held us all in a house in the middle of a desert. In the second I was in a house with Ian Richardson and I thought he was going to kill me so I murdered him over dinner.

There have been three different people who repeatedly come up in these dreams. Fortunately the original subject has stopped (fingers-crossed) making an appearance. It'll be nice when (please, god) the others disappear from my sub-conscious too. One of them does actually stop appearing in my dreams for a while if I meet up with her or talk to her a bit, but she always comes back again eventually. Joy.

Not that I want to test this, but when you die in your dream, you wake up. Maybe that happens in "real life" too, kind of like copying Inception. If that's actually true, then basically everything you do in this dream world doesn't matter in the end, unless it contributes to your subconscious or something.

Are our memories of past lives simply what we remember after dying in a dream?

I got a call and a man told me I had to pay a fine and show up in court because I left the batteries in my wireless phone uncharged so people couldn't reach me for 24 hours. I kind of panicked in the dream, started rambling something, and then woke up.

Ha-ha, soon this will probably be reality. It already quite strongly feels like one isn't allowed to do it - it's getting very hard to remember the time when almost no one had one.

Weird thing is, almost everyone I know calls me on my cell, and this was about the landline phone. Once every two months my mother calls me up and that's about it, not counting some phone sale crews and stuff like that.

I guess the fine was about not helping the economy recover with my wallet

There are always spiders in my dreams. Spiders and the most hideous bugs everywhere. Normally that is a bad sign for me because it means I have problems coming or I'm dealing with them. I wake up horrified usually.

Last night I dreamed I had a bunkbed, and the latter broke and collapsed under it. I was going to put it back together, but then spiders just kept appearing. Normally I'm scared, but this time I was just frustrated. I took a shoe and just smashed them and was cursing them out. I was angry, not scared.

I also dreamed that someone I know (but don't like) brought his friends to my house while I was gone and he just trashed the place, but they didn't do it normally. They organized the mess in such a way that spelled words and criticized me and my politics. They didn't steal anything either. They did it to make a statement to me as opposed to personal gain. Also, they broke my gun. So if they came back, I wouldn't be able to scare them off.

Of course, those are vodka dreams. I had been drinking that night.

I dreamed I was going to the bathroom and I pulled up the toilet lid and in the bowl was our president staring at me and I tried to flush her down or push her down with the toilet brush but she wouldn't budge and she was slowly getting out of the toilet and I woke up in cold sweat.

Legitimately horrifying.

I was walking around wearing a grey gambler hat and I was really worried people were mistaking it for a fedora.

Legitimately horrifying.

It was.

She is all over the news here, and just the sight of her is enough to induce vomiting. And now she's in my dreams? Fuck that, why can't I have normal dreams like the one where I'm a mantis in a business suit.

I had a dream that I used the extend-o-job at work to cut off the right half of my upper lip, in hopes of getting workman's comp. In the dream I started realizing what a terrible mistake I'd made when I went to touch my face and I touched my teeth where I expected my lip to me and I had a huge mental breakdown.

I had a dream where I woke up late for the bus to work, and spent some time ambling around in the forest thinking "shit, i'm fucked now, i've only gone and fucked it, oh god no" and proper freaking out. The feeling was authentic, and in the dream I thought "this is a dream, go to sleep, wake up, and you'll have found it was just a dream" spent the whole dream trying to go to sleep, and when I woke up, it was 2 minutes before my alarm. What!?

In my dream I had that same moment where I thought it was a dream and I should just wake up. When I couldn't wake up at will it increased my panic level.

I'm often really high in my dreams. Like I've taken some bad acid.

From https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/07/03/psychedelic-drugs-put-your-brain-in-a-waking-dream-study-finds

mushroom compounds could be unlocking brain states usually only experienced when we dream.

After injections, the 15 participants were found to have increased brain function in areas associated with emotion and memory. The effect was strikingly similar to a brain in dream sleep.

It’s like someone’s turned up the volume there, in these regions that are considered part of an emotional system in the brain. When you look at a brain during dream sleep, you see the same hyperactive emotion centers.

administration of the drug just before or during sleep seemed to promote higher activity levels during Rapid Eye Movement sleep, when dreams occur. An intriguing finding, Carhart-Harris says, given that people tend to describe their experience on psychedelic drugs as being like “a waking dream.” It seems that the brain may literally be slipping into unconscious patterns while the user is awake.

So yeah, any politicians my supervisors don't feel like poisoning to death, we're going to spike their water with some of these
