I recently came across some of the German councilists' art. I love the monochrome simplicity, the contrast of black and white, the themes of contradiction and conflict, the disruption through angular lines as light and shadow, as well as the ease of its reproduction and distribution.

I haven't been able to find much information about this - was it a movement, was "Cologne Progressives" the name for this movement, were there other artists, are there larger versions I can find? I found a brief page at Libcom (https://libcom.org/history/art-weapon-frans-seiwert-cologne-progressives-martyn-everett) and a website at http://gerdarntz.org, but that's about it.

I can recognize the influence in a lot of more recent stuff, so I'm confused why there isn't more to be found:

Anyone have more info?
