Hello, everyone. I've come here because of a burgeoning sense of disenchantment with American politics, and an observation of the continued failures of capitalism to provide the measures of prosperity that it has promised since the time of its inception. As a child, I was taught in school of the founding principles of my country, i.e. liberty, egalitarianism, democracy etc. and came to admire and respect them; but as I grew older, I became aware of an inherent contradiction between the theory of American ideals, and the actually existing practice of American government. It began to seem as though these ideals were at best applied only selectively when suited to a specific agenda, or at worst outright abandoned. This inevitably led to the question: "If our current models of economic organization and government are not suitable means to achieve these ends, what are?" Hence, my engagement with revolutionary thought. I don't consider myself a strict adherent to any school in particular, but I do tend to gravitate more toward the thought of Anarchists like Kropotkin and Goldman, as well as the Libertarian Marxism of Luxemburg and Pannekoek. I would also like to thank you all for creating a space to openly discuss these ideas, and allowing me to participate. I look forward to learning from and growing with you!
