I've heard different things on this...

Only women can be feminists
Men can be feminists too
Only women and trans* people can be feminists

What were their reasons for why men and nb people can't be feminists?

That's bollocks, Feminism is for all. Don't exclude half the population in your fight, you won't win.

Of course. Anybody can be a feminist. The success of feminism depends upon wide-spread support, not exclusion.

Anyone can be a feminist, but I think women should be the leaders of any feminist struggles.

you can believe whatever you want to believe

arguing over labels is pointless

at this point, if someone told me i couldn't be a feminist, i'd go "lol okay" and it would have zero impact on my life whatsoever because that person is stupid

i recommend you take the same approach

All people can be feminists, even little privileged straight white boys whose mothers coddled them and gave them everything, yet they still complain their piece isn't big enough. Certainly men with bourgeois ideology as well as everyone else infected with liberalism can be harmful to the workers' movement. Women should be at the fore front as leaders of these movements to shatter capitalist kyriarchy

I've met some men who were pretty good feminists (for men)

Some men think they're great feminists, but then it turns out they're sexists who think their shit don't stink.

Yeah, imo. I've heard people talk about how they're a little mistrustful of dudes who make a huge deal out of being feminists, which is something I can understand, but I think that ultimately calling oneself a feminist (or a communist, or whatever) is more about what you do than the opinions you hold.

#FF0000 is a great example of an opinionated mansplainer (jk I love you <3)

I used to one of those people I think, where what I said versus what I did clashed. Now there's no cognitive dissonance

I think it's the guys who shout loudest about how feminist they are that are using it as some kind of cover for their actual sexist behaviour. Not to make sweeping generalisations, but I guess a good ally to marginalised people focuses on actually being a good ally rather than making sure everyone knows what a great feminist they are.

I agree with this, though I think we should be careful not to exclude non-binary people with our language. Non-binary people obviously still suffer under patriarchy in a lot of the same ways as women do, but I think are often excluded from mainstream feminism.
