Although the creator of the game's predecessor, The Landlord's Game, was in fact attempting to promote Georgism, it eventually was further developed by socialists as a means to demonstrate the evils of private property and land ownership. The game was intentionally designed to be cutthroat and infuriating, because that was the whole point.
