A few days ago this image appeared on Facebook, with the description:

"fighters of the the Lebanese Communist Party in June 2015 in the Bekaa Valley: for the defense of the land in the face of terrorism and takfirism"

Note the arm patches - the flag of the LCP

Details are few and far in between, but this has been apparently confirmed as a central decision.

All indications point towards cooperation between the two groups, since the Bekaa Valley is Hezbollah territory. I guess security on the border is an increasingly critical concern now that Hezbollah is squeezing Nusra and ISIS militants out of their mountain strongholds.

As for number, IIRC the LCP had several thousand during the Civil War period. The article mentioned that these veterans are now training this new batch of cadres, but I don't have any info regarding their current number.
