Anyone else like this show?
I borrowed the 1st season from someone & I'm currently working my way through it. I think it's a funny show, one of the better cop shows I've seen. Unlike a lot of really annoying TV series like "CSI" etc, the cops in "The Shield" crack jokes about corpses, steal & re-sell narcotics, extort various citizens, set illegal wiretaps, plant evidence, etc. and it's all set against the rot of institutional corruption which extends from the average cop on the beat to the captain of the police force.
Unlike some other shows it basically portrays the police as ordinary people who are active & complacent pawns in a really fucked up system, but yet still try to do something good from time to time, unlike shows which portrays them as Dudley doo right crusaders for justice.
I esp. think that Jay Karnes' character is funny, I almost think that he's a direct parody of police characters in shows like "Criminal Minds" and other shows that focus on criminal psychology.
