Dear Chris,

The campaign to demand higher wages for fast food workers is reaching a critical point this week.

Fast food workers from the Chicago area will be delivering petition signatures from CREDO and other progressive activists to McDonald’s headquarters during its annual shareholder meeting demanding a minimum wage of $15 an hour. We need to show up in force to stand with our working friends and neighbors who deserve better wages and working conditions.

The protest will be held right at the doorstep of McDonald’s headquarters in Oakbrook, IL. Event organizers will be running a bus from the Fight for $15 office in downtown Chicago. Here are the details:

What: Protest for $15 wages at McDonald’s headquarters
When: 10 am CDT - 3 pm CDT, May 20, 2015
Where: 850 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL

This protest isn’t just a fight for wages. It’s a fight for better working conditions, union representation, gender pay equality, racial justice, and equal opportunity.

Even though McDonald's recently raised wages by one dollar, it's just not enough.1 A one dollar raise for less than 10 percent of workers will not make paying for basic necessities like groceries, rent, and transportation much easier. A giant corporation with nearly $5 billion in annual profits could do a lot better than a public relations stunt that will result in a raise of exactly zero dollars for roughly 1.6 million workers.2

This shareholder meeting is where McDonald’s decides how to spend its money. Getting our message across there – it’s a big deal. We need to send a message loud and clear that Americans across the country support union rights and raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

Thank you for standing up for working families.
