I'd say my understanding of Marxism is rather good for 17 but I haven't read much Marxist text because it goes over my head and my concentration for reading is very low. I read a lot of summaries of Marxist text though and I find them helpful and I think my understanding of theory is fairly good. However I would like to be able to sit down with my selection of books and just read away. (Something I haven't done in a long time)
Could you suggest books on Marxist Economics theories that are simplified? I've tired David Harvey's youtube videos.
It would be good to have Marx, Engels etc translated into basic/modern English.

How often are you on Marxist Internet Archive?

Ernest Mandel is worth a read. Euros who have access to Heinrich's intro to the three volumes of Capital say it's good. Postone goes over some basics in Time, Labour and Social Domination.
Also Paul Mattick bcuz FROP doom

Heinrich's pretty anti-TRPF OP but I guess he's good for introductory purposes.

I find that Marx is easier to understand as you read more and more of his works. That said, I'm not sure what would be a good place to start. I haven't read his work Wage Labor and Capital but that might be good; it looks short and to the point.
The German Ideology was my first book by Marx; I read it after I had read some other philosophy which was much tougher for me to understand, like Heidegger, Nietzsche, and some familiarization with other philosophers. I liked The Poverty of Philosophy as well.
Maybe you can organize a group of comrades (with a roughly similar reading comprehension level to yourself) to read it? When you have a group to show up to, when you'd ask each other why they were missing at the reading group, there's a certain extra motivation to actually do your reading assignment.
On a similar note, I'm about half way through Capital, which means after reading 400 pages, I have 400 to go, and my friend who was reading it with me has given up on it 200 pages ago. Maybe I should have read an abridged version. I'd be done by now!! :(

I have a couple of books called "Main Currents in Sociological Thought 1" and "The Founding Fathers of Social Science." Both have sections on Marx. The latter has a section on Engels. They are Pelicans which are always good. Worth a read if you can pick one up, they're very interesting. :)

'Wages Prices and Profit' is maybe a good place to start. It's short, for one thing.
