Hi all !

First thing first, please forgive me for any future english mistakes! As you might have guessed by reading my title, I'm a French dude (oui monsieur!) and of course, it's not my first language, so it is possible that sometimes your eyes will cry acid tears by looking at this post! But hey, at least you are warned!

Now... Where to start ? Because this place is full of tons of interesting things, and I feel kind of lost, but it's highly motivating!

Basically I live in the suburbs of Paris (10 mins in transport), I'm 19 yo, and I study both French and Anglo-American law, it's my first year. An American friend of mine told me I was a "fresh man", sounds cool to me

I've been a member of the Parti Communiste Français (which is commie ofc), but I'm no longer in it, because I don't feel extremly comfortable with them.
In France, the leftist movement, is basically represented by the Front de Gauche, which is a coalition of leftist parties, with the French Commie Party in itself, but I'd rather identify myself as a member of the Parti de Gauche, another leftist party.

The biggest issue that I'm currently facing is that France is a right-wing conservative country, and it's hard to be a leftist in this country. Thus I've been wandering a lot on the Net to find leftist company, because in my circle of friends, there are not so many leftists, or politized (is it well written ?) people ...

And this is why I wanted to join RevLeft, to find leftist people to talk to, to share and learn with them. Recently I've been looking for books about leftist ideologies, but I don't know which one I can find... So I hope to find info to guide me here ! Also I've been quite wondering about the way of actions, like do I still want to act with pacifism, or do I want to take part in violent actions ? I hope I will be able to meet people to talk about that too.

Now a bit about me: I love graffiti, and used to do some, I'm passionated in Sci-fi (books, movies, series, etc.), I'm always studying arts when I have free time, I love countryballs (and I'm a countryballer). My music taste can be resumed by: fusion between rap and metal: rapcore/nu metal.
Like I guess the majority of youth I play video games, but I like to see this medium, as any other, as a way to think (about any topics).

I love cats. Caaaaats.

Also I'm a member of Greenpeace. And I think that's all for the moment.

Hope you enjoy your reading, and thank you for your attention!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Hi, welcome :)

Your English seems fine to me! I'd be interested to know a bit about what things are like in France because I'd like to go there at some point. I read Le Monde Libertaire (paper of the FA) when I can, but otherwise I don't really keep on top of what's going on.

I see you've found our French language forum, which I'm sure would appreciate some activity and love. There are a small number of French-speaking people here, but I imagine there are a few more who can read French :)

If you live in Paris, you should certainly pay a visit to the Publico bookshop close to the Oberkampf metro station: http://www.librairie-publico.com/.

Well, as much as i like cats, Lenin did have a dog

'Vladimir Ilyich's monthly allowance of eight rubles procured him clean lodgings, and meals, and paid for laundry and mending – and even that was considered dear. True, the dinner and supper were simple enough meals. One week a sheep would be slaughtered, and Vladimir Ilyich would be fed with it day in day out until it was all gone. Then they would buy meat for a week, and the servant girl would chop it up for cutlets out in the yard in a trough used for preparing the cattle feed. These cutlets were fed to Vladimir Ilyich for a whole week. But there was milk and cream enough for both Vladimir Ilyich and his dog, a fine Gordon setter named Zhenka, whom he taught to retrieve, and point, and do all other kinds of canine tricks.'
