Hello,

I have a technical problem. Many websites simply don't load, my bank's website, facebook, my university's, some news sites, and my email, as well as many website-aid websites where people have asked similar questions, so I'm asking here. Some programs appear to not load either, McAfee, and Chrome as well until I disabled it for start-up, oddly. I'm not sure if it's related.

k. everything is working now for no apparent reason.

If you're interested in finding out if there was a problem (and what it was if there was) then it might be an idea to take a look at the event logs in the event viewer.

For the websites: clear your cache and restart the browser. For the programs: Since the programs are web-based (Chrome and McAfee need a connection to work) the caching issue may be messing with things, but if it doesn't solve those issues, then download MalwareBytes and do an extensive scan, and see if that works.

The problem with threads like these, is that you'll mostly get answers that highlight a particular aspect of the problem. It's often a wild guess.

Since the issue is no longer occurring, it is hard to pinpoint anything, but should it occur again, the following isolation steps might help:
- Does the issue occur in a clean user account (create a new user account)?
-- If yes: Does the issue occur on a different computer in the same network?
-- If no: Account related, start picking there.
- If the issue is happening on another computer, does it happen on another network? (mobile hotspot, neighbour network, etc).
- If the issue is not happening on another computer: Systemwide problem, start picking there.
- If the issue is networkwide: How is the network set up? What could be the problem here?

Other questions:
- Is the problem intermittent? Is there a pattern?
- How long has the issue been occurring? What could you have done that might be related at the point you started noticing the problem?
- Are there specific errors you're getting when you have the problem? Could you post logfiles?

Only when you use a methodological isolation and note down what is exactly happening, could anyone possibly give you an educated answer.
