Greetings fellow lefties,
I'm Publius; a revolutionary Socialist/Communist, gay male from Northern England. I'm new to this forum and fora in general so please go easy on me . Just here really for debate and conversation with fair-minded people who don't act like I'm a total idiot when I mention my opinions and how peed off I am with the world.
Some topics I'm interested in are:
-Socialism and wider leftism
-Feminism
-Queer identity
-Anti-racism/fascism
-British and European politics
-Gaming
-Reading
-History
-Cooking
Speak to me :)
Saluton :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Welcome! And being peed of with the world is probably a necessity for being a radical leftist or at least for anyone who doesn't live in an academic seminar.
I have just started a British politics class and it has caused me to begin paying more attention to the matter, so any conversation with British people who keep up with it is awesome. What is party alignment like in your area? Do people feel like there is or could be a left alternative to labour?

Welcome comrade!
Forgive me if I'm making a premature leap, but judging by your use of 'saluton', I am assuming you speak Esperanto?

Q:
Thank you, I'll bear that in mind.
The Jay:
I've not actually read that much theory beyond The Communist Manifesto and a few sort of for-dummies-esque books that broadly cover Socialism, so I'm still pretty new to the movement in that respect. I have Das Kapital queued up to read next though and I'd love to hear any suggestions.
G4B3n:
I think you're probably right in that!
I'd love to give you my perspective on politics in my area. I'll answer any questions you have.
I live in a safe Labour area in a large industrial city in the North East of England. My City is represented by 8 MPs, 5 of which are Labour. Labour also has a Super-Majority in our local council.
In general I don't think that people think there is a viable alternative to Labour yet. I mentioned to my Mother that I might be voting for the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition in this year's election and she said that it would be a wasted vote. A lot of people thought that the Green Party might turn out to be a 'UKIP for the left' but I think there is a widespread perception of them as wishy-washy, and they lack the 'charisma' of Farage's populism.
BITW434:
Thank you Comrade. I'm not actually an Esperantist - I thought that using an international greeting would be a fair way to say hello on an international forum. Are you a speaker yourself?

Also,
Comrade Bob:
Sorry for separate reply, I didn't see your post!
It's always good to know there's more than one of us .
