Suffice to say that the change in the law made previously to ensure only mercenary or millitary types do fighting for any reason was actually serious. I wonder if the soldier who died the other day would've been prosecuted on returning home?

The title is kind of dishonest. She wasn't arrested for trying to fight ISIS, she was arrested for joining the PKK.

I don't disagree, though let's be honest, the intelligence services in the west had pretty damn good ideas of who was going over to fight what in the last few years. That the PKK are still circumscribed, even in the fight against ISIS hits me as pretty ridiculous. And in a very juvenile way, makes me think they are the only faction in the region worth supporting. Or the working class of rojava, or however you want to phrase it.

The point is when it looked like Assad was going to be dealt a blow, they armed every fruitloop they could contributing massively to the creation of ISIS, or groups that were later incorporated. So why keep the ban? Are they afraid of a leftist equivalent popping up? Or is this just allowing them to be killed for the sake of the Turkish government, or letting the 'nice kurds' be our vessels for change in the region?

Well the fact that the PKK claims to support a revolutionary struggle and is not afraid to use violence in the name of that struggle certainly isn't winning it any favors amongst the western elite. But really I think the main reason the west refuses to give them arms or resources is simply because it would really irk Turkey.
