Bit off center, some of you may (nor may not, no idea) have heard of the Total War series, a set of real-time strategy games where basically one destroys an opponents army. Its set in various different historical settings like Imperial Rome, Feudal Japan, European Middle Ages and so on.
The best one is Rome Total War (original), anyone here play it or has played it? I am really good^^

I've played Medieval Total War, the 1st Shogun (i think) at a friend's house, the napoleon one, and Rome. Rome was for me, the clear winner also.
I also think it holds an important lesson. All empires fall, whether from repeated rioting or from compromised hard drives.
One thing that did annoy me was when the 2nd wave of roman troops came in. You spend a lot of the game waiting for them, because they are the 'classic' roman soldiers, but then you have all these regiments in practical places where it just isn't feasible to replace them with the new ones, and it looks so mishmash. An insult to conformist efficiency.

lol.
Well campaigns are fun but the game is meant to be played in multiplayer. The AI is complete shit. RTW is the best for multiplayer because the game is fast paced and requires dynamic thinking that adapts quickly to the situation.
One thing offputting about the multiplayer though (I played since I was like 16, so almost 6 years) is there is an unusual number of neo-nazis. There was this one kid called Paullus (lol) that was one and was actually quite good at the game, I beat him Spain vs Carthage  , in case you don't know thats pretty hard. He left the game afterwards.

I actually bought empire total war this weekend and am playing the same faction. Unfortunately my experience has not been the same as yours. I'm still bottled up in Southern India and am currently being blockaded by the mughals which is bankrupting me. I also ceded a territory to the UK in exchange for a military alliance thinking it would open up a new front but they're not doing shit and I think I probably just set us all up for future colonization instead, whoops.

Ugh. Guys
1) Empire sucks ;D
2) Marthas are the easiest to play of all the factions (campaign).
3) If you play as them, you MUST blitz the Mughals. The Mughals have alot of territory but few troops, you need to quickly build up your army as quickly as possible (it will set you back financially off course) and capture 3-4 settlements within the first turn. Since they are mainly Hindu their public order should be good. Then consolidate your southern and central settlements and push into the Muslim and Sikh heartland. Don't allow any Europeans.
Once you have a solid base, destroy the Portuguese and capture Sri Lanka from the Dutch. After that its cake cuz India is isolated and defended. Expand into Persia and eventually the Middle East and Europe.

Ah I invested in infrastructure too early I guess then. Plus I wanted to unite with the mughals against the Europeans, so I avoided fighting them where possible. Unfortunately the AI isn't very complex when it comes to diplomacy and was pretty unreasonable about the whole thing. Im not very good at these games, it was just on sale over the weekend. I might check out the Japanese one if it goes on sale sometime.
