If a communist revolution was to happen and they followed true Marxism, could they truly transition into a stateless society? It seems difficult because without a government there would be no way to unite the people. Large scale projects like highways, etc couldn't be achieved as easily. It also seems that if we were stateless, it would be easier for Bourgeois regimes to start. This could ultimately lead us back to where we started before.

You're conflating statelessness with lack of governance, which is wrong. Also, if the bourgeoisie, and the conditions that maintain it, was crushed (which is the only way we can achieve statelessness) how do you imagine them reconstituting themselves when all property has been abolished? How do you expect enclosure happening again when there are no conditions for it?

The state as an institution of systematic force and class rule would no longer exist. However, what Engels called the "administration of things" would replace the state as it withers away. The proletarian state will wither away only when the capitalists have been defeated world wide. There won't be capitalists re-emerging just like there aren't feudal lords re-emerging today.

I think this would be helpful to read: https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1917/staterev/ch05.htm
It is from Lenin's "State and Revolution". The entire work is really good and deals with the state, but this chapter is the " Economic Basis of the Withering Away of the State" and deals very closely with your question. I hope it will help!

The state is not the government - it is the aspect of the government inherent in Capitalist society that exists to expropriate one particular class. Socialism means the abolition of classes (through the expropriation of the previous oppressing class) so all Socialists believe in a stateless society or else they wouldn't be socialists. There would still be governance, but this would be done completely democratically with the general administration and organisation of labour being handled by elected officials, who are subject to recall at any time, and the workers unions I imagine.
