Hello,
I hope it is okay that I post this thread here. It has been a long time I went on this, and was never really active. I am unsure if I will become more active, but want to give this another try.
My political views have changed in the meanwhile. I still do not consider myself a communist or anarchist. But some issues discussed here are relevant. I seem to have drifted from libertarian more towards the center.
I remember that at the time I was active here I was into evolutionary psychology and talked a bit with Quail. Now some time later, I have become interested in feminism. I read a lot, and while I haven't read feminist literature yet, I have read more about females in history, such as Cleopatra.
Lately I've been thinking about gender. I would say there are some differences, but that society is artificially making the gap larger. For example, I looked at my Lego and it is all very male orientated. I wondered why it couldn't be more neutral. Non-issue? To me it is not. Children might have their gender specific preferences, but again it seems to be artificially high. I'm still young, but I have looked a bit into gender neutral parenting. Some of it goes a bit too far for me, like not telling your child its gender or putting boys in a dress, but otherwise I'm positive about the idea - and perhaps those examples aren't that extreme.
Other things I've have been philosophizing about are: the dangers and limits of science. Modern society seems to be build on science and it is becoming somewhat religious in nature. Environmentalism and conservation is another subject. Modern consumerism is still something I am critical of. I've also become interested in religion, though I'm not religious.
