So we travelled to Malmö here in Sweden recently to protest against the racist group Pegida recently formed here after their german activities.
To keep this short: we were 5000 anti-fascists. Against 8 racists (eight!) who ended their failed attempt at showing themselves on the streets after just some minutes. One pegida member or supporter hit a girl from the left party in the face and the police did nothing to arrest the thug.
Dan Park, infamous racist so-called "street-art" artist was supposed to speak for Pegida, no one knows yet if he actually showed up or not.

I think this is why there seems to be so many racists online. They don't have too much success in the real world as most people find them to be disgusting so they often don't even bother to show their faces.
Racists can be Internet tough guys, though, because they are safe from behind their computer screen. They have practically ruined YouTube comments and Reddit.

Yes, true, in Sweden the antifas has made those nazis who are not willing to stand for their views openly in everyday life go hide on the forums instead, which is most nazis here, but there still are the hardcore ones who don't care about stuff like that, they don't mind if people know about their nazi crap. We shouldn't think the streets are cleaned up totally, fash groups still march and spread abuse, threats and assaults here and there in many countries. But the antifas has made it more difficult for them to spread their bullshit openly in public, yes.

If racist ideas are common in a society, it is because the ruling class finds those ideas useful to their rule.

Racists do not need PEGIDA when then have the SD to turn to

I agree entirely. Very well said :)
It is the same in my country, where society has realised that any form of racism and discrimination is completely unacceptable.
All those disgruntled losers that still think they're better just because of the colour of the skins, now have to watch themselves for fear of being exposed for the ugly things they really are. They resort to the Internet to feel better about themselves.
As members of civil society, we should push forward for more internet regulation, so nothing like this may ever happen again, not even online.
The Internet must be cleaned as well!!

Which, unlike your average silly neo-nazi outfit or aspiring pegida, is already entirely acceptable in 'polite society', generally speaking. Seems redundant to try to establish a Swedish pegida when the equivalent already exists.

These victories always feel so weird when I live in the US and the only groups who can get ~300 people out are a group of people Nazis have said are too extreme.

No doubt some of the Pegida ended their day with German marching songs in the comfort of their living rooms. ; )
